Video anak Farah Lee dan Ally Iskandar masuk asrama

After 6 years of home- and world-schooling, I believe Maream is now ready for a more structured learning environment. She’s entering Form 1 with the IGCSE curriculum, which she has been casually introduced to over the past few years.

She has experienced so much flexibility in life, and now it’s time for her to learn something more solid – because Islam is wasatiyyah: finding balance in how we live.

And why boarding school? Well, with my career and our single-parenting setup, sending her to school and managing the daily commute just isn’t very practical for us. So when I found @mykhalifahschool, where weekends at home are encouraged, it somehow felt like a good fit for our little family. She gets her structured school life, and we still get our weekends together – or at daddy’s when Omma is abroad.

Maream is actually very independent, used to being away from me whenever I travel, and has always looked forward to sleepovers. Yet the first day in a new place, with new faces, a new environment and a new space – for a longer period of time… wasn’t easy. It wasn’t easy for Omma either 😭

Beyond academics, I wish for her to strengthen her character, adab and akhlak – to become the best khalifah she can be in this dunya, and to be a reason for others to come closer to the akhirah.

Please make dua for Maream. May Allah give her comfort and ease, and keep her sound and safe. Allah sebaik-baik penjaga dan pelindung 🤍
